turku animated film festival 2024

I made a poster, dozen of visual variations and a trailer for TAFF this year. I said: "I'm not a graphic designer" but they didn't listen.

I know nothing about fonts, so I googled "art deco font". Then I copied some letters and went with it.

It took forever. It was nice to have free hands. Some people said free hands situation parallizes them but I was happy. I spent a lot of time listening to music, don't know what "fiilistely" is in English but that's what I did. Drawing and dreaming. It wasn't very effective process but it was fun.

life mood

I drew these in spring in Tartu when I wanted to escape other art-related duties.

Autumn is starting and I definitely have had enough holiday. I want to work, but don't yet know with what. Thinking if I should leave animation and start some career in psychology. Enough of this art thing already. Best thing about animation is that I can (or at least try to) include so much of my dreaming to my work. But it feels also quite pointless and too self-centered. Would rather think about something else all day long.

I could just write diary and imagine how they'd be published after I'm dead. And everyone would ADMIRE my wit and sensibility. When you're still alive, this admiration doesn't really pay the bills. I'd rather feel myself useful and have cash.

Life mood by Kierkegaard. It always lifts up my mood!

ivo dimchev oli paras (ei kuvaa)

We visited Norpas Festival in Taalintehdas, Finland, with Lea. Middle aged strong willed women formed the main part of the audience (we didn't count ourselves as part of them, yet).

Taalintehdas has some charming lakes to swim in. I drank from one of them while swimming, because I was thirsty, and didn't get stomache ache. So it's proven, Finnish archipelagio can be pure as well.

Orvokki and Ivo Dimchev were the best acts. Orvokki had cool visuals by Siili (?) and made a great cover of "Poseidon" by Lau Nau - who also happened to be in the audience! Ivo Dimchev made everyone dance with their Bulgarian songs about vodka and cheese pie. He has a great voice little bit like Anohni but the recordings that I later listened don't give it justice.

It was nice and cozy to sleep in the big sports hall and listen to strangers snoring concert.
